The Reader's Refuge

Escape the hustle and bustle of your week at "The Reader's Refuge," a weekly gathering designed for busy students seeking a moment of tranquility. Every Wednesday from 3:00 to  4:00 PM, join fellow readers in a serene space (Vogel Library 3rd floor Learning Cloister) where you can indulge in a book of your choosing—no book lists, no questions to answer, just pure reading bliss.

This event offers a perfect opportunity to unwind in the middle of a busy week. Whether you prefer fiction, nonfiction, or poetry, come enjoy an hour of peaceful reading and let the stresses of the week melt away. Find your refuge in the pages of a good book!

Look for The Reader's Refuge table - we'll have a kettle on for tea, cocoa, or cider.

Shut Up & Write!

Shut Up & Write!™ is a writing accountability group held every Thursday from 2:45 to 4:00 PM in the study lounge on the 1st floor of Vogel Library. This supportive gathering is designed to help you prioritize writing and boost productivity.

After a brief check-in, you’ll enjoy a focused hour of uninterrupted writing—whether you’re working on creative pieces or academic projects. Feel free to write by hand or type on your computer; the choice is yours! Each session concludes with a moment to celebrate your progress, fostering motivation and community. Everyone is welcome to “shut up & write!”

Game Night

Join us for new games or old favorites! Game Night is the perfect opportunity to take a break from your studies, recharge your mind, and enjoy some laughter.

We will meet every Thursday evening from 8-9 PM in the booth seating on the 1st floor of Vogel Library.

A Reading Rebellion

Join us for our monthly event, "A Reading Rebellion," where passionate readers come together to explore thought-provoking books that have been frequently challenged or censored. "A Reading Rebellion" aims to celebrate the power of literature and advocate for the importance of unrestricted access to books for all.

Each month, participants will select from a curated list of suggested titles. We will engage in meaningful conversations about why these works matter, highlighting the value of making various life experiences and viewpoints available on our shelves. Come prepared to share your thoughts and insights as we stand together in defense of literary freedom!

The first meeting will be Tuesday, January 7, from 12:00-1:00. Feel free to bring your lunch! We'll meet in the study lounge on the 1st floor of Vogel Library

Additional meetings will be held on February 4, March 11, April 8, and May 6.
