Learning extends far beyond earning high marks on exams. "This is NOT on the Test" offers a unique opportunity to celebrate the joy of learning. Faculty members will share their passions —research, travel, hobbies, and more— in engaging, informal presentations. Connect with faculty and fellow students, explore new ideas, and rediscover the joy of learning. All are welcome!

Escape the hustle and bustle of your week at "The Reader's Refuge," a weekly gathering designed for busy students seeking a moment of tranquility. Every Wednesday from 3:00 to 4:00 PM, join fellow readers in a serene space (Vogel Library 3rd floor Learning Cloister) where you can indulge in a book of your choosing—no book lists, no questions to answer, just pure reading bliss.
This event offers a perfect opportunity to unwind in the middle of a busy week. Whether you prefer fiction, nonfiction, or poetry, come enjoy an hour of peaceful reading and let the stresses of the week melt away. Find your refuge in the pages of a good book!
Look for The Reader's Refuge table - we'll have a kettle on for tea, cocoa, or cider.
March 16 Shrinking Art - Make a charm for your key ring or a pin for your backpack. Create and color your favorite design, and then watch it shrink to 1/3 of the size!
March 23 Marbled Paper - Create beautiful marbled paper using shaving cream and ink. Enjoy it as art OR transform the paper into greeting cards or postcards.
March 30 Glitter Tubes - It’s almost magic! Glitter-swirl tubes are a great tool for emotional regulation. Added bonus: they look super cool!
April 6 Watercolor Tangles - Need to unwind? Embrace the flow of water and color with watercolor tangle artwork.
April 13 Sharpie Tie Dye Bookmarks - Create a one-of-a-kind tie dye bookmark that will brighten your day. If you can scribble, you can make this bookmark!
Join us: Monday, March 14 from 2-8 PM.
Location: second floor Vogel Library Kreativwerkstatt
Learning to mend your clothes can save you money, can reduce textile waste, and can be a creative outlet. Sewing machines and sewing kits are always available in the Kreativwerkstatt, but we'll have staff on hand to cheer you on during Mend-It Monday hours each month. Perhaps you want to learn to repair a fallen hem or reattach a button. Maybe you want to try your hand at visible mending techniques to cover a snag or hole. Have you decided that its time to learn how to iron? We can help you with that, too!
Additional Mend-It Monday sessions will be held May 12.
Shut Up & Write!™ is a writing accountability group held every Thursday from 2:45 to 4:00 PM in the study lounge on the 1st floor of Vogel Library. This supportive gathering is designed to help you prioritize writing and boost productivity.
After a brief check-in, you’ll enjoy a focused hour of uninterrupted writing—whether you’re working on creative pieces or academic projects. Feel free to write by hand or type on your computer; the choice is yours! Each session concludes with a moment to celebrate your progress, fostering motivation and community. Everyone is welcome to “shut up & write!”
