Long-Term Laptop Program

Purpose

The Long-Term Laptop Program exists to ensure that students with financial need have access to a laptop for one term at a time to complete their academic work.  The program began as a partnership between the Vogel Library, Student Life, and ITS.

The Hardware

Laptops will be provided with Windows or Mac OS. No other software will be included.

  • Students must register the device on the Wartburg network. Follow the instructions provided on the ITS Resources Page. (login required)
    • Instructions are located under Connect to the Network > Registering your Laptop on the Wartburg Network.
  • Students may download any software they desire, on their own.
    • Software must be purchased by the student.
    • Office 365 is provided by Wartburg College. Follow the instructions provided on the ITS Resources Page. (login required)
      • Instructions are located under Email Support > Installing Office 365

Please note that previously the long term laptops included software. Beginning Fall Term 2023 software is no longer included so the laptops are compliant with ITS policies related to the use of software and applications.

History

The Long-Term Laptop Program originated in the Student Life Office with PC laptops. It was moved to the library in Fall term 2021 to better track loans and increase computing resources during the pandemic. MacBooks were added in Winter term 2022.
