Laptops 101

A workshop presented by the ELITE Consultants at Vogel Library.

What is a Core?

A core is a processing unit within a CPU that executes calculations and instructions. More cores allow a CPU to handle more tasks simultaneously.

The main CPU manufacturers are Intel and AMD, whose chips are widely used in non-Apple computers, though some older Apple devices also used Intel chips. Nowadays, Apple manufactures its own chips called Apple silicon.
