Vogel library offers a wide array of equipment, technology, games, and leisure equipment

Equipment Circulation Policy

ELITE is pleased to provide equipment checkout services to Wartburg students, faculty, and staff with a current Wartburg ID. Equipment and various accessories are available to support student learning and the academic mission of Wartburg College and are not available to community patrons.

Equipment may be checked out at the Vogel Library 2nd Floor Service Desk. Loan Periods are listed below. You may also view a full list of available equipment and accessories on this guide.

Check-Out Procedure

  • To check out circulating equipment, the borrower must present a valid Wartburg College ID.
  • Borrowers can check out available equipment on a first-come, first-serve basis, or fill out the Reserve Equipment form.
  • Once an item has been checked out to a borrower, they are responsible for the equipment.
  • Borrowers with a block on their accounts are prohibited from checking out equipment until the block has been removed.

*A limited number of laptops are available for checkout for semester-long use.  Students must first talk with either Krystal Madlock or Zafrul Amin in Student Life for approval. A user agreement must also be signed. Contact a library staff person and see our Long-Term Laptop Policy for more information.

Check-in Procedure

  • Log out of the laptop before returning it to the library. 
  • When returning checked out equipment, borrowers must hand-deliver the item to a staff member at the 2nd Floor Service Desk. Do not leave equipment at the front desk and walk away. Until the item is checked in, the borrower is still responsible for equipment. 
  • A staff member will then check the equipment’s condition before removing the item from the borrower’s account. 

Important Information

LAPTOPS 

  • Laptops are preloaded with software. Borrowers cannot alter, delete, or copy any of the available software or change its current configuration. Borrowers are prohibited from installing software. 
  • Borrowers are encouraged to save any documents on their Wartburg OneDrive or USB Flash Drives. Documents saved onto the hard drive of the laptop will not be saved after logging out. 
  • Borrowers can pick up available equipment on a first-come, first-serve basis, or fill out the online Reserve Equipment Form (linked below). There are no renewals. 

IPADS

  • iPads are available for 24-hour check-out. 
  • Borrowers cannot alter, delete, or install any applications on iPads.

Loan Periods, Fines and Liability

Overdue Items

It is the borrower’s responsibility to return items by the designated due date and time. Fines are $1.00 per hour and will accrue based on the checkout length of the equipment. “Return” is defined as returning the item in its original form.

 

Lost & Damaged Items

Items that are considered lost or damaged are assessed a fee equal to the current replacement/repair cost of the item.

 

Troubleshooting Equipment

Borrowers should not troubleshoot equipment. Please contact ELITE  staff if you are having problems.

 

Notices

Courtesy email notifications are sent when equipment is loaned, due, overdue, or declared lost. Borrowers are expected to take prompt action on all notices and notify ELITE or Library staff if there is a discrepancy.

Disclaimer

Wartburg College is not responsible for damage to any removable memory drive (USB Flash Drives, CDs, etc.) or any loss of data that may occur due to any equipment malfunctions. The college is not responsible for any computer viruses that may be transferred to, or from, a user’s removable memory drive.
