Station History

History: WMT Radio is a popular radio station owned by iHeartMedia, its signal covers all of Iowa and some parts of the neighboring states. The station was founded in 1922 under the name of WJAM. It was renamed WMT (Waterloo Morning Tribune) in 1928, when Harry Shaw purchased it and moved the channel to Waterloo. It returned to Cedar Rapids in 1935, a year after Shaw sold it to the Cowles family. During the following decades, WMT changed owners but the station remained in Cedar Rapids.
