Cricut is a smart cutting machine that works with an app to allow you to design and personalize all sorts of things - cards, clothes, water bottles, stickers, logos, etc.
Vogel Library has a Cricut Explore 3 in our Kreativwerkstatt (Makerspace). To access the Cricut, come to our Circulation Desk and ask to use the K-statt. You'll be asked to sign an agreement form (if you haven’t already done so) and given a block to sign in and out of the space. Also ask to check out the Cricut Kit, which has the tools and some materials to use with the Cricut. There is no cost for Wartburg students, staff, and faculty to use the Cricut.
We have a computer available to use with the Cricut, but if you want to use your laptop or smartphone, you can. The app is called Design Space.
The machine cuts over 100 materials. Vogel Library has a few vinyls and other materials on hand.
Check out this cheat sheet from Cricut to determine which mat would be needed for the material you want to work with.
Different projects require different materials. If you are creating stickers, you'll want a sticker material. If you are creating a design to go on a glass mug, you'll want to select a vinyl that will work well with that. Just investigate the different materials and what you want to achieve.
There are different mats to use for different materials. Pull off the plastic cover and lay on the material (i.e.: vinyl) and cut the design. Once you are finished and have removed the design from the mat, replace the plastic on the mat to protect the stickiness.
