Students in graduate programs engage in highly specialized and discipline-specific research. Research at this level should build on your ability to search and find sources to find your own voice as both a consumer and a producer of new knowledge.

As undergraduates, the citation of sources is too often reduced to a way to steer clear of plagiarizing. However, when you view yourself as an active participant in the scholarly conversation, creating correct citations and organizing the resources you find is one way you identify how your own research fits within the information ecosystem.

Purdue's Online Writing Lab commonly referred to as Purdue OWL is an online resource that supplements Purdue's writing lab. Over time it has become a go-to resource for faculty and students alike.
