Equipment and Technology: Rooms and Spaces

Vogel library offers a wide array of equipment, technology and facilities to meet your needs. This guide provides a summary of everything we have to offer

Name, Location and Description

Collaborative Classroom
2nd floor, LIB 233

Instructor podium includes a PC tower, and a control panel allowing presenters to select which table's displays will be presented to the entire class on the smartboard. Also has numerous removable whiteboards for in-class projects.

Curriculum Lab
1st floor

Four tables in X-shaped arrangement, each table seats six (6) and has six (6) HDMI cables to connect student laptops to the large, flat-screen monitor. Instructor podium includes a PC tower, and a control panel allowing presenters to select which table's displays will be presented to the entire class on the smartboard. A calendar of the list of classes for the term that use the room are posted outside of the classroom.
Education classes have access to the technology cart containing MacBook laptops for in-class use. Also has numerous removable whiteboards for in-class projects.

Lecture Classroom
2nd floor (Classroom #1, LIB 230)

Creation Studio
2nd floor

photo of the Creation Studio, equipped with 10 desktop computersTen desktop computers (5 Mac, 5 Windows) fully-equipped with Adobe Creative Suite and other software to support student creativity and innovation.

Students needing the specialized software available in the Studio have priority in its use.

PREP Room
3rd floor

Photo of PREP room with lecturn, large-screen monitor, white board, and 4 chairsThe Practice, Reflect, Explore and Present (PREP) Room allows students to practice their presentations and record themselves for review afterwards. Equipped with a wall-mounted camera and microphone, podium, large flat-screen display, and whiteboard, this room is also a great place to record interviews.

Use is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Meeting and Study Rooms
3rd floor, LIB 352 and LIB 353

photo of room 352LIB 352 and 353 are available for institutional use from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, and serve as student group study rooms in the evenings. Both seat 10, and room 352 has a large flat-screen monitor with cables that allow users to attach a laptop computer. When not reserved, these rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

To reserve this room call the Events and Scheduling Coordinator at 8286.

Study Rooms, 3rd floor

Some have large flat-screen monitors with HDMI cables allowing users to connect a laptop for group work. All are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Viewing Room,
1st floor, LIB 116

Small student study room equipped with flat screen monitor, seats eight (8).

Use is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Faculty Development Room
1st floor, LIB 120

PC tower computer with wireless keyboard and mouse connected to a 48" flat-screen monitor. Laptops, tablet computers, and even smartphones can connect to the monitor using the wePresent software provided. Entire south wall is a whiteboard, and the room also includes a selection of books to support and inspire faculty development.

Policies & Procedures

Library Spaces Available for Meetings

Library classrooms on the second floor are reserved for information literacy instruction.  They can be scheduled for other purposes, such as class presentation and SI sessions.  Fill out the online room request form to reserve one of these rooms.  Please included in your message the name and course number of the class, the instructor, exact times needed, your name and phone number.  These rooms are equipped with computer, projector, VCR, DVD, cable, and white boards.  Mirrors in the room can be used as well for practicing speeches. Library Classroom 1 also has a laptop cart available.

Unless otherwise noted, all rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Other equipment and podium: If you need equipment not provided in the rooms, plan to bring it with you.  The library does not have a podium.

Food and drink:  You may serve food and beverages in these rooms, but users are responsible for clean-up.  Please leave rooms in the condition in which you found them.
