Biographical Sketch

History: Kathryn Koob is a Wartburg alum who graduated in 1962 and afterwards became a teacher for short time. In 1969 she began to work for the US Information Agency. She began her work in the Ivory Coast and also worked in Zambia, Kenya, and Bucharest. In 1978 she returned to the US for language training and in July 1979 she arrived in Tehran. Nearly four months later she was a hostage. After 444 days, she was released on January 27th 1981. After coming home she spoke, and continues to, about her experiences around the US and dedicates her free time to service around the US and the world. This collection contains items regarding her life before being a hostage, her time as a hostage, and after her time as a hostage.
