Wartburg Athletics - Wrestling
Preface
The Wartburg College Archives is responsible for the collection and preservation of records that document the college’s history, development, operation, policies, people, activities, and events.
The Archives is committed to providing access to holdings. However, access to some items may be restricted by their fragile condition or by contractual agreement with the donors, and it may not be possible at all times to provide appropriate machinery for reading, viewing or accessing non-print materials. In such circumstances arrangements may have to be made for digital duplication or transfer to occur before access can be provided.
Introduction
Abstract: Records of Wartburg’s wrestling program containing general information about admissions, banquets, coaches, correspondence, press books, and tournaments ranging from 1963-1999. Statistics from 1953-2017 are also included.

History
History: Wartburg’s wrestling program began around the 1940’s, with Wartburg securing the Iowa Conference championship in 1948. Highlights of the program since include 13 national titles since 1996, 11 national duals titles since 2003, first or second in nation in 21 of last 25 years, 24-time defending Iowa Conference champions, haven’t been defeated by a current IIAC opponent in dual competition since 1993-94, two or more individual national champions in 10 of the last 14 seasons.
