Station History

History: WOC Radio was founded in 1921 by Robert Karlowa under the name 9BY, which was assigned to him when he obtained his amateur license. The name WOC letters were randomly issued in 1922 along with a commercial license. Due to the increased expenses, Karlowa was forced to sell the station just a few months later. The channel moved to Iowa State and has remained there since. The most famous former employee of the station was Ronald Reagan, the 40th president of the United States.
