Biographical Sketch/Agency History

History: The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) was founded in 1946 as a grassroots organization and was originally an unincorporated association. During this time, the association was called the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) but to be doing business as (RTDNA). According to the RTDNA’s website, the RTDNA is “the world’s largest professional organization devoted exclusively to broadcast and digital journalism.” Part of the RTDNA’s mission is to promote and protect responsible journalism. It does this by defending the first amendment right of electronic journalists, as well as dedicating the Edward R. Murrow Awards to outstanding journalists.
