Preface

The purpose of the Archives of Iowa Broadcasting is to establish and maintain a permanent collection of materials relating to the history, development and contribution of radio and television in Iowa.

The Archives is committed to providing access to holdings. However, access to some items may be restricted by their fragile condition or by contractual agreement with the donors. Due to the complexity and variety of audiovisual formats, most items will need to be digitally duplicated or transferred before access can be provided.

 

Introduction

Abstract: Audiovisual materials, 1986-1997. This collection contains the work of Liz Mathis, a former reporter and anchor at KWWL. The Mathis collection consists mostly of VHS and U-matic type videocassettes. Main subjects of the recordings are politics, newscasts and documentaries.

Extent: 63 items

Physical Description: Videotapes (BETACAM SP, U-matic, MII, VHS, DVC pro).

Dates: 1986-1997.

Subjects: Interview/audition tapes, newscasts, lifestyle, documentary, entertainment, sports, political conventions, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, KWWL, NBC, KCRG.

Biographical Sketch/Agency History

History: Elizabeth Mathis was born in 1958 on a farm in DeWitt, Iowa. She is currently working as a senator on the Iowa State Senate. Mathis started her career as an anchor and reporter at KWWL, where she was employed until 1996. She then joined the faculty of Wartburg College and later became a producer at KCRG-TV. Mathis has been on the Iowa State Senate since 2011, standing up for causes like child healthcare, mental health treatment or the prevention of illegal drug distribution.
