Use Databases Wisely

It can be too easy to be sucked into in-depth research on a topic, so look for scholarly articles sparingly, and use newspaper articles with a grain of salt (often, they may be reporting on something that has better information elsewhere).

Even stories set in present day can benefit from the context of socio-cultural events. Our access to New York Times archives allows you to find articles from many different years. You can also search past issues of magazines such as The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Ebony, etc.

Search Journals A-Z or browse the Periodicals area on the 1st floor for more!
