History

History: Wartburg College began actively recruiting from abroad in 1954. As of 2017, Wartburg College had 120 international students enrolled from 55 different countries. The International Student Services Office (ISSO) provides services to international students, such as immigration advising and orientation. They coordinate the Friendship Family program, which pairs international students with local families, and Global connections, a student-led group that seeks to increase cultural awareness and competence on campus. The International Club was founded in the years following 1954, and is the school’s largest student organization. Members include both international and American students. This group’s mission is to introduce foreign cultures to the community, and provide social and educational events for its members and the college. One of these events is Culture Week, in which the students celebrate different cultures by holding a culture show and hosting other events throughout the week.

Timeline: 1954- Present.
