Preface

The Wartburg College Archives is responsible for the collection and preservation of records that document the college’s history, development, operation, policies, people, activities, and events.

The Archives is committed to providing access to holdings. However, access to some items may be restricted by their fragile condition or by contractual agreement with the donors, and it may not be possible at all times to provide appropriate machinery for reading, viewing or accessing non-print materials. In such circumstances arrangements may have to be made for digital duplication or transfer to occur before access can be provided.

Abstract:  Records (1942-2011) regarding awards, curriculum, minutes, personnel, and other general information about the English department. Also included are modern languages records regarding curriculum, study abroad, correspondence, and enrollment.

Department History

History: The English program at Wartburg offers students the opportunity to prepare for careers through concentrations in literature, creative writing, and film and performance studies. The college also offers a major in English teaching. Modern language programs prepare students by developing their skills in a non-English language, multicultural awareness, and professional versatility. Immersion requirements include one May term abroad, tutoring, and third-year study abroad.
