Live in the Waverly area but don't have a library card? Vogel Library can set you up with a Waverly Public Library card. Just bring a photo ID and we can get you set up.
Currently, Wartburg College alumni do not have remote (off-campus) access to databases and electronic journals for which Vogel Library pays a subscription fee.
However, alumni are able to use these resources on-campus. Alumni who wish to use computer workstations within the library to access online resources will need to ask at the circulation desk for a temporary login to on to the computer.
For alumni who wish to access online resources using their own laptop computers while visiting Wartburg, guest wireless access is available across campus.
Open access journals do not charge subscription fees, and their full-text articles are available freely online. In the list below, we have listed some sites/portals that you can use to find open access journals/articles that are of interest to you.
DOAJ is one of the most comprehensive lists of open access journals available. Journals are gathered into subject-specific lists, which you can browse to find journals. You may also search for journals, and also search for articles within journals whose content is also listed on DOAJ.
Highwire Press is an epublishing platform from Stanford University. Not all journals on the Highwire site are freely available, but there are many that make their back issues freely available, and some that are completely open access. HP provides free access to over 2,000,000 free articles and counting!
BioMed Central is an STM (Science, Technology and Medicine) publisher of open access journals. All original research articles published by BioMed Central are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication. BioMed Central views open access to research as essential in order to ensure the rapid and efficient communication of research findings.
