Spanish Courses & Research: Articles

What can article sources do for you?

  • Shorter, narrower, more specific information (the opposite of an in-depth book)
  • Current information (news and magazines)
  • Scholarly research studies and results (peer-reviewed journals)

Most Helpful Databases for Spanish Topics (see all that search in Spanish language below)

These databases are the most useful to students researching Spanish topics.

To search the English and Spanish word at the same time, use (English word OR Spanish word) like this: (hello OR hola).

Databases That Search in Spanish

These are our databases that allow you to search for articles published in other languages. If you don't see this option on your first search screen, look for an Advanced Search tab and look there.

Online Newspaper Sources

Spanish Google: http://www.google.es/

News Sources on the Web

Google web searches for news stories from these countries:

Google Scholar

OR try Google Scholar. Google Scholar is a useful resource because on campus it will link to full text in any of our databases--make sure to use Advanced Search (you have to click on the "More" down arrow). Click on "Settings" to change to search in Spanish.

  • PRO: If you search on campus, it will show you anything we have Full Text access to.
  • CON: You cannot order directly from ILL within a Google search result list; you have to manually enter the data.
