Equipment and Technology: Checkout Procedures and Policies

Vogel library offers a wide array of equipment, technology and facilities to meet your needs. This guide provides a summary of everything we have to offer

Check-Out Procedure

  • All equipment is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Special arrangements should be made via the online Equipment Check-Out form.
  • Present your valid Wartburg College student, faculty, or staff ID.
  • When checking out equipment for the first time, the borrower must sign the Borrower’s Agreement. This agreement is kept on file for the remainder of the academic year.
  • Borrowers must read, understand, and abide by the procedures outlined on the Equipment Circulation Policy.
  • Once an item has been checked out to you, you are responsible for the equipment.
  • Borrowers with a block on their accounts are prohibited from checking out equipment until after they pay their fees.

Check-in Procedure

  • When returning equipment, borrowers must hand-deliver the item to the ELITE or Library staff member at the 2nd Floor Service Desk. Do not leave equipment at the front desk and walk away. Until the item is checked in, the borrower is still responsible for equipment.
  • A staff member will then check the equipment’s condition before removing the item from the borrower’s account.

Laptop Policy

  • Laptops and iPads are preloaded with software. Borrowers cannot alter, delete, or copy any of the available software or change its current configuration. Borrowers are prohibited from installing software.
  • Borrowers are encouraged to save any documents on their NASCAR Drives (Wartburg provided Cloud Storage) or USB Flash Drives. Documents saved to the laptop will be deleted after the device is returned to the library. When using a guest account on a laptop, files are deleted when the device is rebooted or when the user logs off from the guest account.
  • Shut down laptops completely before returning to the 2nd Floor Service Desk.
